Your First OB Visit

Congratulations! You're pregnant! Now what happens?

Your first step will be calling our office at (616) 588-1200 and speaking with a member of our scheduling team to set up your first two appointments:

OB Interview

During this appointment, our OB Nurse will speak with you in great detail about your pregnancy. She will review your past medical history and family medical history in detail and discuss topics such as prenatal vitamins and breastfeeding. She will also order prenatal blood work. The OB Interview takes about an hour and is very important regardless of whether or not this is your first pregnancy.

OB Physical 

This is your first pregnancy appointment with your physician and is typically scheduled between the 10th-12th week of your pregnancy. During this appointment, you will receive a complete physical exam, a Pap smear, and your due date will be established or confirmed. Your physician will also address any questions and concerns that you may have.
